Personal Insurance

Hi,
Last weekend I was chatting to a microlight instructor, who mentioned personal insurance for private pilots. This is in addition to club insurance from club membership.

I asked for further clarification and was told to look at the CAA website. However that has been
difficult to navigate.

Anyone got some advice? In particular with:
1) Can a solo student fly with club insurance only?
2) Can a private pilot (NPPL - SSEA) fly club aircraft legally on club insurance only?
3) Would personal cover be overkill? Or is it advised?
