Is it safe to lose height by sideslipping in a PA28?

What about other Club aircraft - C172 ?

Hi Bob, yes is the short answer sideslipping is a safe and somtimes useful practice. However caution should be excercised during the manoeuvre with particular attention paid to stall speed, aircraft configuration and fuel management. Both aircraft are capable of slideslips but each have their own querks (BG for instance should not be agressivly sideslipped with large flap deflection).

Hope this helps
